Bookish Treats: Aunt Tulia’s Hot Chocolate

tulia's hot chocolate

Hello, book friends! As the days get colder here in the northern hemisphere, it’s the perfect time to get all cuddly-cozy in your favorite sweater and enjoy a hot drink. Here’s an easy recipe for the Mexican hot chocolate that Aunt Tulia makes in The Raven Mocker. Enjoy!

Easy Mexican Hot Chocolate

3 Tbs. instant hot chocolate mix

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp. chili powder

1/2 cup boiling water

1/2 cup milk

Optional: An extra 1 Tb. chocolate syrup if you like your drink a little on the sweet side 🙂

Ready? Three easy steps!

1) In your favorite mug, mix the dry ingredients together: hot chocolate mix, ground cinnamon, and chili powder

2) Add the hot water to the mug and stir well

3) Add the milk (and extra chocolate syrup!)

And you’re all set! You can use more or less of the cinnamon and chili depending on your tastes—I find the cinnamon really gives it a nice twist. If you like your hot chocolate extra creamy, you can also use 1 cup of hot milk instead of mixing the milk with water.

Happy fall! 🙂
