Hello, bookish friends! A reader asked whether I have certain music that I like to listen to while I write. I actually have a lot of trouble writing and listening to music at the same time (listening and painting at the same time seem to be OK, though). Does anyone else have this problem?
At any rate, I still ABSOLUTELY listen to music while I’m daydreaming and think, ‘This song should totally go on a Wildheart playlist.’ Here are three songs that I listened to a lot while writing Murmur:
- Birds of a Feather (The Civil Wars)
Where she walks, no flowers bloom / He’s the one I see right through
The perfect song for a strange pair 🙂 - The Boy Who Wouldn’t Hoe Corn (Alison Krauss & Union Station)
I’ll tell you a story and it won’t take long/ ’bout a lazy farmer who wouldn’t hoe his corn/ The reason why I never could tell/ for that young man was always well
Jack is DONE with healing people at the beginning of Murmur. But why? - Shine Down (Godsmack)
Shine down, just give me a chance to feel it/ It’s taken forever to get me off the ground
Trying to fly, even if it’s just one last time
What do you like to listen to while you daydream? Can you listen to music and study/write at the same time? Or are you like me, and you prefer to listen while you’re doing other things? 🙂
Love and lyrics,
Emily
